With over 22 years as a transportation executive recruiting expert, combined with broad industry knowledge, you can count on deep experience for hiring solutions. Prior to founding Garland Source in 2015, Kelly worked for a transportation search firm for 16 years where he earned numerous National Monthly Performance awards and several Top 10 Recruiter of the Year awards out of a several hundred system recruiters.

Levels of candidate placement include C-Suite, GM’s, transitional president’s, VP’s, directors and mid-level management covering a vast range of roles and skill sets. Seasoned at negotiating compensation, relocation packages, non-competes, vacation time, and the other variables it takes to successfully bring companies and people together.

Transportation Experience

After earning a geology degree and working in offshore oil, Kelly’s transportation career began in operations with a publicly traded truckload carrier. During the next twelve years he gained valuable experience and found many opportunities to make contributions to the organization. The company went through rapid growth after deregulation. This environment created new dynamics and challenges in which he was able to play a key part and expand beyond the typical floor operations role.

Working with IT on special projects which included leading several significant large- scale software designs was especially exciting. It was the early days of QUALCOMM, TOFC intermodal and trailers going into Mexico were emerging models and he was heavily involved in adapting to these changes. Frequently spending time in the shop in order to pull operations and maintenance closer was particularly beneficial and enlightening. A new majority owner led to acquisitions, as the sister companies were merged, the organizational needs presented new challenges to impact. The opportunity to work closely with every department and sister companies was invaluable and an extensive educational experience. It also provided a solid foundation for helping clients with their recruiting needs.
